Chat Critters FX

A layer of playful effects that come "play" with chat messages on the Chat Box overlay — a fun touch to make on-stream chat feel alive. It's not a separate overlay, but a toggle enabled on the Chat Box.

What it does

  • Turn on/off with a toggle on the Chat Box page (chatOverlayCritters)
  • Four effects that fire on random visible messages:
    • 🟡 Pac-Man — Pac-Man chomps a message left→right, trailing white pellets
    • 🛸 UFO (abduct) — a UFO lifts a message up in a beam, then bounces it back
    • 💣 Bomb — a bomb drops on a row, shakes it, then explodes into confetti
    • 🐾 Cat paw — a cat paw swats from the right, the row tilts slightly
  • Effects fire at random every ~9–17 seconds (live) — each one cleans itself up, leaving no leftover state

Where to find it

Settings → Overlays → Chat Box → turn on the Critters / Fun FX toggle (runs on the same /chat-overlay OBS route as Chat Box — no separate URL)

Use case

A fun-focused streamer who wants on-screen chat to have some personality — turn on Critters on the Chat Box, and every so often Pac-Man chomps a message or a UFO abducts a line, creating goofy moments that keep viewers watching chat.
